Peter Thordarson is a 35+ year veteran of broadcast and broadcast engineering, starting in radio in 1987 and moving to broadcast television engineering in 1996.
At Fox, Thordarson supported compression and satellite uplink systems for both the network as well as the cable assets such as FX, Speed, FSN, and Fox Business channels. He also helped architect transmission and compression encoding systems for major events such as the first HD Superbowl with Dolby Surround, NASCAR Daytona 500, World Series, and American Idol finales. In addition, Thordarson was chief engineer for FSN/ROOT Sports for four years.
Most recently, Thordarson was responsible for production engineering at Microsoft. There he oversaw live production technology operations for MS corporate and XBOX internal and external events, including developing remote flypack systems for the CEO, president, and other senior leaders. During the pandemic, Thordarson helped bridge the broadcast industry to Microsoft by creating a series of “Customer 0” workflows at the company’s own production facility.
